Heather N. Reich, MD, PhD, BRCU Faculty

ASN Biography
Heather N. Reich, MD, PhD, is a graduate of McGill University Faculty of Medicine. She completed her post-graduate clinical training and PhD at the University of Toronto where she is the Oreopoulos-Baxter Division Director of Nephrology and holds the Gabor Zellerman Chair in Nephrology Research. Dr. Reich works as a nephrologist-scientist at the University Health Network, Toronto General Hospital, and is passionate about improving clinical care and outcomes of patients with glomerulonephritis. Dr. Reich is the Scientific Director of the Toronto Glomerulonephritis Registryt10991. Her translational research program focuses on elucidating the mechanisms responsible for the progression of kidney diseases towards kidney failure in immune-mediated diseases, with a focus on IgA nephropathy. This molecular work is complemented by studies to identify clinical risk factors for disease progression and contributions to clinical trials of novel therapies in glomerulonephritis. Dr. Reich enjoys teaching and was a Co-Chair of the annual Glomerular Diseases Update Early Program at ASN Kidney Week. She has also contributed to the 2021 KDIGO guidelines on the Treatment of Glomerulonephritis.
