Staff Liaison


  • Implement strategies to increase interest in nephrology careers, which includes:
    • Developing web-based tools to inform students of career options within nephrology.
    • Supporting innovation within medical education.
    • Submitting potential sessions at ASN Kidney Week focused on workforce issues.
  • Manage, evaluate, and continuously improve current initiatives for students, residents, and other trainees, including:
    • Programs to include trainees at ASN Kidney Week; recognize that the committee will work with the ASN Training Program Directors Executive Committee on all initiatives for nephrology fellows.
    • Programs to introduce medical students and PhD candidates to nephrology, such as Kidney TREKS (Tutored Research and Education for Kidney Scholars).
    • Efforts to expand awareness programs to include trainees, such as Kidney MAPS (Mentor and Assessment Program for Students).
  • Serve as a resource to the ASN Council and the society’s other panels (particularly the ASN Diversity Work Group) around efforts to increase interest in nephrology careers, which includes promoting diversity within the nephrology workforce.
