William B. Evans MD, age 70, passed away Wednesday April 29th. Chicago's Lakeview area resident, he received his bachelor's degree from Swathmore College and his doctorate degree from University of Iowa College of Medicine. Completed his residency at Northwestern Hospital and was a nephrology fellow at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and licensed to practice in Illinois and Indiana. William had been in private practice since 1998 in Matteson, Blue Island, Hazel Crest and Tinley Park, and held the positions of CEO, Medical Director and Partner, DaVita Chicago Heights Dialysis Center (formerly Chicago Heights Dialysis Center) and CEO, Medical Director and Partner, Community Dialysis of Harvey. In the past he was Medical Director-Midwest Renal Care, Burnham Terrace, St. Margaret Hospital Dialysis Unit, Orland Dialysis, Edgewater Hospital Dialysis; Partner-Olympia Fields Internal Medicine (Horizon Health Care), Hospitalist-Ingalls Hospital, PODS leader responsible for quality assurance, utilization review and precertification of inpatient and outpatient care for 6000 commercial, Medicare and Medicaid recipients; Member of Medical Management & Finance Committee Ingalls Provider Group and Quality Assurance-Accord/Catholic Hospital Association, Board of Directors-St. James PHO, Utilization review physician-St. James Hospital, Lecturer-Chicago Medical School, Medical Director-Imperial Nursing Home and Mercy Healthcare. During his career, he helped patients at Ingalls Hospital, Harvey, MetroSouth Hospital, Blue Island, South Suburban Hospital, Hazel Crest, St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields, St. Margaret Hospital, Hammond and Dyer, IN, Trinity Hospital, Chicago and St. Bernard Hospital, Chicago. Member in good standing of the American Medical Association, American Society of Nephrology, Chicago Medical Society, Diplomate American College of Physicians and American Society of Internal Medicine. Son of the late Kathryne nee Beatty and William T. Evans. Brother of Martha (Richard) Keifer. Colleague and friend of many.
