William D. Kaehny, MD

September 1, 1939 - June 4, 2021

Aeternam habeas requiem Bill Kaehny

Dr. William Daniel Kaehny, age 81, died peacefully at his long-time Denver home in Park Hill with his wife and four adult children at his side on June 4, 2021. He left this world enveloped in love and blessed by the words of Billy Collins, James Joyce and other wise people he admired.

Dr. Kaehny, a nephrologist, was the long-time director of the Internal Medicine Residency program at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and an iconic figure both to his peers and to the hundreds of young doctors he taught and mentored.

Bill was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the oldest son of Cornelia "Connie" Greulich, a highly accomplished nurse, and Alois "Al" Kaehny, the top electrician at Milprint printing company. A true son of the Jesuits, Bill graduated from Marquette University high school, college and medical school. Bill grew up with younger brothers Dennis and Rick, sister Linda Mary and much younger brother Mark in Milwaukee.

William D Kaehny is survived by his wife Karen, children John, Kate, Meg and Sheila and seven grandchildren. His Milwaukee area kin include his siblings Dennis, Linda-Mary and Mark and nephews Christopher and Jonathon.
