Mitchell Lewis Halperin

Born in Montreal, Mitch built a life defined by love, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those around him.
Professionally, his impact was immense. As Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto, he served at St. Michael's Hospital as a world-renowned nephrologist, researcher, author, and educator. His gift for simplifying complex physiology to first principles helped others "see the big picture" and shape generations of physicians around the world. His ground-breaking work was recognized by colleagues and peers with numerous papers, awards, honorary international doctorates, and the Order of Canada.
Mitch's life was one of curiosity and kindness. His influence will endure through the many lives he touched as a physician, teacher, mentor, coach, and friend. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
