Norman Joseph Marieb, MD

Norman Joseph Marieb of Orange, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at his home on January 9, 2026. He was born on November 8, 1934, in Springfield, Massachusetts.
He devoted his life to medicine. He graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 1959 and completed his internship and residency at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. In 1961, he entered the United States Navy and served as a Lieutenant in Barstow, California, for two years.
After settling in Orange, Connecticut, he built a respected career as an endocrinologist in private practice. He also held numerous leadership roles at Yale New Haven Hospital and the Hospital of St. Raphael, including Director of Metabolism, Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Medical Director, and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the Hospital of St. Raphael.
Following his retirement from St. Raphael's, he continued to serve as a consulting physician at Milford Hospital and Gaylord Hospital. He remained deeply engaged in medicine throughout his life, staying current with medical literature and attending hospital grand rounds.
In addition to his medical career, he contributed actively to his community. He served on the boards of the Orange Health Department, the Orange Visiting Nurse Association, and the Orange Board of Education, reflecting a lifelong commitment to public service.
