Translational Session
Onconephrology: Focus on Hematology
November 03, 2023 | 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM
Location: Room 201, Pennsylvania Convention Center
Session Description
Onconephrology crosses into many areas, including hematology. Kidney diseases occur from a number of hematologic malignancies and drugs that are administered to patients. Thrombotic microangiopathy develops from a number of medications and cancers. There are a number of kidney lesions that result from lymphomas and leukemias, which can present acutely with aggressive disease of quite indolently. Monoclonal light chains cause various forms of kidney injury, with the tubulointerstitium as an important target. Diagnosis and management of amyloid light chain (AL) amyloidosis-related kidney injury is an important area of competence for onconephrologists. This session covers these important topics in kidney care.
Learning Objective(s)
- Describe the drugs and cancers that cause thrombotic microangiopathy
- Characterize the various renal complications of leukemias and lymphomas
- Define the clinical aspects of light chain-related tubulointerstitial disease
- Articulate the diagnosis and treatment of AL amyloidosis with kidney involvement
Learning Pathway(s)
- Onconephrology
