Translational Session
Membranous Nephropathy: From Science to Personalized Patient Care
November 08, 2025 | 04:30 PM - 06:00 PM
Location: General Assembly A, Convention Center
Session Description
This session presents the latest developments in membranous nephropathy (MN) from three perspectives: research, diagnosis, and management. Recent scientific research is highlighted with a focus on disease pathogenesis: the responsible antigens, autoimmunity, complement activation, and mechanisms of podocyte injury. The connection between experimental work and clinical patient care is discussed. Topics in diagnosis and histopathology emphasize how kidney biopsy can inform clinical care. Clinical management and use of biomarkers to guide treatment of MN are discussed.
Learning Objective(s)
- Describe the major pathophysiological steps in MN
- Summarize relevant research studies in MN that affect clinical care
- Discuss the diagnostic approach to MN and the ways in which kidney biopsy can guide management
- List major clinical studies investigating first-line therapeutics for MN and describe ongoing or planned clinical trials for novel agents
- Explain how longitudinal monitoring of biomarkers can guide management of MN
Learning Pathway(s)
- Glomerular Diseases
