Clinical Practice Session
Advancing Hypertension Care: Role of Renal Denervation
November 07, 2025 | 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM
Location: Room 362A, Convention Center
Session Description
Hypertension is a critical area for nephrology professionals to stay abreast of treatment innovations. Renal denervation is approved for patients whose blood pressure remains uncontrolled despite lifestyle changes and medication. This session explores renal denervation as a transformative treatment by examining the challenges of uncontrolled hypertension in CKD and CVD reviewing the science and procedural aspects of denervation; and reviewing key clinical trial data demonstrating its safety, efficacy, and long-term benefits.
Learning Objective(s)
- Describe the clinical burden of uncontrolled hypertension, including the prevalence and clinical challenges of uncontrolled hypertension, particularly in patients with comorbid conditions such as CKD and diabetes
- Summarize the science and technology behind renal denervation, focusing on its effects in modulating the sympathetic nervous system to reduce BP
- Summarize key findings from clinical trials and real-world case studies that demonstrate the safety, efficacy, and long-term benefits of renal denervation treatment across a spectrum of patients with hypertension, including those with true resistant hypertension
- Discuss strategies to identify appropriate candidates for renal denervation and ways to effectively incorporate the therapy into management plans
Learning Pathway(s)
- Hypertension and Cardiorenal Disorders
