Clinical Practice Session
Choosing the Optimal Dialysis Modality for Difficult Situations
November 06, 2025 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Room 342D, Convention Center
Session Description
This session explores situations in which clinicians may have preconceived ideas about the optimal dialysis modality. These preconceived ideas often stem from clinician bias rather than evidence. Exploring the evidence further enables patients starting dialysis to have true choice in decisions about their care.
Learning Objective(s)
- Summarize dialysis outcomes for people with severe obesity
- Evaluate whether decline of cognitive function is affected by dialysis modality
- Assess whether outcomes of adolescents on dialysis are affected by modality
- Discuss whether peritoneal dialysis is the optimal modality in the presence of severe heart failure
Learning Pathway(s)
- Dialysis
- Hypertension and Cardiorenal Disorders
