Clinical Practice Session
CKD in the US Hispanic/Latino Population
November 06, 2025 | 04:30 PM - 06:00 PM
Location: General Assembly C, Convention Center
Session Description
This session informs on recent research to improve kidney health in the Hispanic adult population, which is the largest minority population in the United States and has a high burden of CKD. Topics include an update regarding the epidemiology of CKD in this population (e.g., risk factors for incident CKD and CKD progression), challenges in providing care to uninsured Hispanic immigrants, and the utility of genetic biomarkers for risk prediction in Hispanic adults.
Learning Objective(s)
- Summarize findings from the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos regarding the epidemiology of CKD in US Hispanic adults, including risk factors for incident CKD and CKD progression
- Describe the influence of social determinants of health (i.e., acculturation and other sociocultural factors) on health outcomes in Hispanic patients with CKD
- Identify ways to enhance care for uninsured Hispanic immigrants
- Discuss new findings on the utility of polygenic risk scores for CKD in Hispanic persons
Learning Pathway(s)
- CKD Non-Dialysis
