Special Session
Better Kidney Care Requires Better Payment Systems
November 08, 2025 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Room 351D, Convention Center
Session Description
Dialysis care accounts for one percent of the US federal budget, providing access to lifesaving care for hundreds of thousands of people in the United States. The current payment system is outdated, resulting in a lack of innovation and dialysis care that is nearly indistinguishable from that decades ago. This session addresses the need for a payment system overhaul, which was last redesigned in 2008, to promote a brighter future for nephrology professionals and patients.

- Identify challenges to desired outcomes, given outdated systems and the need for improvement
