We are excited to announce that we will be hosting the 12th Annual Vanderbilt Mouse Kidney Injury Workshop this year, August 12th-16th at Vanderbilt! This is a hands-on, workshop designed to train faculty, renal fellows, post-docs, graduate students, and technicians in the practice of handling, phenotyping, quantitative renal histology and performing commonly used and important mouse renal kidney injury models. By completion, participants will be sufficiently familiar with practical procedures to be able to set-up these models in their own labs, if necessary, with continued support from the Vanderbilt faculty and staff. This forum also establishes standards of practice for some of the more demanding surgical models of kidney injury (including ischemia/reperfusion injury, 5/6 nephrectomy, unilateral ureteral obstruction, (mouse) renal biopsy and Cecal ligation perforation models), as well as practical training on quantitative analysis of mouse renal pathology, the use of correct statistical analyses, power calculations and randomization protocols, as well as performing real time transdermal GFR measurements in conscious mice. If you or anybody you know of would be interested in attending the workshop, please complete the application survey below.
