Marie D. Philipneri, MD, PhD

ASN Biography
Dr. Marie Philipneri is a Professor of Medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She joined the Division of Nephrology at Saint Louis University (SLU) in 2000. After earning a medical degree from University of Guyana (1994), she completed residency in internal medicine at University of Missouri Kansas City and fellowship in nephrology at Saint Louis University. She obtained Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D, 2015) and Masters in Public Health (MPH, 2006) degrees from Saint Louis University. Dr. Philipneri is Board Certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine, and Specialist in Clinical Hypertension. Her leadership roles include Medical Director of Outpatient Dialysis at SLU since 2006 and Associate Director, SLU Nephrology Fellowship Program. Dr. Philipneri serves on SLU's Faculty Senate and she is an active member on SLU's Biomedical Institutional Review Board (IRB) since 2006, SLU School of Medicine (SOM) Admissions Committee since 2013, and Safety Monitoring Committee for Division of Infectious Diseases. She is a member of the Nephrologists Transforming Dialysis Safety (NTDS) Project committee and Current and Emerging Threats Workgroup (CET). Dr. Philipneri has participated in several clinical trials. She has received and managed research grants from the Missouri Kidney Program and Missouri Foundation for Health. Her research interests include chronic kidney disease management, hypertension, dialysis, and outcomes research.
