Ewuria A. Darley

February 25, 1978 - September 28, 2021

Ewuraa Aba Darley was born February 25, 1978 to loving parents, William Kodwo Darley and Pearly Waller, in Baltimore, Maryland. Before grade school, Ewuraa would go with her mom on her exercise routines and attributed those times to what lit her passion to her calling in health and fitness. Growing up, Ewuraa tested into the talented and gifted program in the Prince George's Public School System. She shared a love and passion for music and sang in the Prince George's County's Honors Chorus from the elementary to middle to high school level. She went on to attend and graduate from Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. Ewuraa was highly active in high school and was in various choirs. She, with her friends, would give the best talent R & B performances. While at Duke Ellington School of the Arts, the school selected Ewuraa to perform a solo and appear on 60 Minutes (an internationally syndicated television show) with famous opera singer, Denyce Graves, who praised Ewuraa's vocal abilities.

After graduating from high school, Ewuraa attended the University of Cincinnati for about three years studying Pre-Med before transferring to the University of Toledo where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She continued to be active throughout her college life, modeling, as well as winning vocal music competitions and beauty pageants. After obtaining her undergraduate degree, she returned home to Maryland and began her professional career. Ewuraa held leadership positions in the Washington Metropolitan Area before going back to school to earn her Master's degree in Health Promotion Management from American University in Washington, DC. Ewuraa also known as Aba, Dee-Dee, or Ria, was the founder and co-owner of Well Space Fitness in Greenbelt, Maryland, where she continued her calling in health and fitness. At Well Space she touched the hearts and minds of many individuals while helping them to achieve their health and fitness goals. She partnered with RadioOne and local politicians to develop public health programs in the Prince George's community. In addition, Ewuraa participated in health conferences as a keynote speaker; her work on employee mental wellness has appeared in a number of professional journals. She married Darrell J. Fisher in 2019. For the past year, she served as the Director of Public Science and Data Impact for the American Society of Nephrology.
