November 01, 2017 | 07:30 AM - 09:15 AM
Location: Room 283, Morial Convention Center
Session Description
This program is intended for individuals who would like an introduction or refresher review of renal pathology. The program covers the classic pathologic changes seen in medical diseases of native kidneys while also examining renal transplant pathology. The curriculum includes lectures and hands-on workshops, with opportunities to ask questions and discuss the workshop cases with expert renal pathologists. Participants are provided computer stations and digitized, whole-slide images (virtual slides) of key disease biopsies. Whole-slide images of “unknown cases” enable attendees to test their mastery of the course material. All workshop cases are accompanied by clinical summaries and images of immunofluorescence and electron microscopy. The course is taught by world leaders in renal pathology who foster interaction and discussion, and provide guidance on reading and interpreting the pathologic findings. Attendance is limited to 100 people to maximize interactions with the expert faculty in workshop sessions.
