Clinical Practice Session
Improving Patient Care at the Transition to Kidney Failure: Insights from USRDS and DOPPS
November 04, 2022 | 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM
Location: W320 Chapin, Orange County Convention Center‚ West Building
Session Description
There is a need for substantive data that could help physicians improve care at the transition to kidney failure. With the United States Renal Data System (USRDS) and Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) uniquely positioned, this joint session presents the latest trends and opportunities to do better for patients before, during, and after the transition to kidney failure. Discussions focus on improving preparation before kidney failure: offering patients real choice, limiting urgent-start dialysis, smoothing the care of biochemical complications, and more. How are drivers such as payment policies and the COVID-19 pandemic playing a role in the United States and internationally, and what lessons have we learned to date?
