Translational Session
Beyond Human Leukocyte Antigens: Integrating Genetics into Living Donor Kidney Transplantation
November 08, 2025 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Grand Ballroom C, Convention Center
Session Description
Advances in genetic research have highlighted the role of non-human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genetic factors in shaping kidney transplant outcomes. This session explores how these factors, including polygenic risk scores, contribute to understanding donor-recipient compatibility and risk prediction after living kidney donation. This session also provides insights to integrate these genetic tools into clinical practice to improve kidney transplant success and long-term outcomes.
Learning Objective(s)
- Describe non-HLA genetic factors influencing kidney transplantation
- List predictors of CKD progression after living kidney donation
- Identify traditional and nontraditional risk factors for CKD after living kidney donation
- Discuss how genetic advances can be translated into bedside and clinical kidney transplant care
Learning Pathway(s)
- Kidney Transplantation
- Genetic Diseases and Development
