Session Description

This program provides a comprehensive update on genetic kidney diseases, including advances in diagnostics, therapeutic approaches, and the clinical integration of genetic testing. Through expert presentations, interactive discussions, and workshops, participants gain practical skills in genetic test interpretation, patient communication, and ethical considerations for integrating nephrogenetics into clinical care. Case-based learning and real-world applications provide actionable insights to enhance patient care and multidisciplinary collaboration in nephrogenetics.

Session Objectives

Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to: 1) discuss the latest advancements in genetic kidney disease research; 2) differentiate among various genetic testing methodologies with an understanding of genetic test results, including variant classification, variants of uncertain significance, and clinical implications; 3) apply ethical considerations when ordering genetic testing and returning results; 4) describe diagnostic and management strategies for rare kidney diseases using online resources and databases; and 5) discuss interdisciplinary collaboration with genetic counselors, nephrology professionals, and researchers to optimize patient outcomes.
