Geriatric Nephrology Curriculum

This curriculum, developed by ASN members, consists of a comprehensive course in geriatric nephrology. It entails over 30 chapters, each of which is followed by several questions to assist in self-evaluation. It is an excellent resource to help fellows learn about an area in nephrology which is generally not widely covered in textbooks.

Nephrology Self-Assessment Program

The mission of the Nephrology Self-Assessment Program (NephSAP) is to regularly and continually provide a vehicle that is useful for clinical nephrologists who seek to renew and refresh their clinical knowledge and diagnostic and therapeutic skills. This journal consists of a series of challenging, clinically oriented questions based on case vignettes and a detailed syllabus that reviews recent publications. Taken together, these two parts should assist the individual clinicians in the self-assessment of their strengths and weaknesses in the broad domain of nephrology. NephSAP is also available in hard copy; it is mailed to all recipients of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. The website provides access to current and archived NephSAP editions.

Kidney Self-Assessment Program

KSAP is an online self-assessment program that offers Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Part 2 Maintenance of Certification (MOC) and is available for purchase (free for ASN members). This program reviews the essentials of nephrology for fellows preparing for initial certification, practicing nephrologists preparing for recertification, and practitioners who want to refresh their understanding of the core elements of nephrology. The case-based questions and answers study tool is based on the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Examination Blueprint.
