Background
The Renal Extracorporeal Quality Initiative(REQI) is a community of practice(CoP),a group with knowledge and expertise in one domain enhanced through interactive practice. We describe the development and implementation of REQI
Methods
Key CoP principles used to develop REQI(Fig1).The shared topic of interest was pediatric ICU nephrology.Members included nephrology, neonatology, critical care, pharmacists, dietitians.Resources were added to departmental folders, guides and alerts were created(Tab1)
Results
REQI started in 2014 with weekly audit bedside rounds using structured rounds templates addressing access, fluid balance, anticoagulation and nutrition delivery in real time. Bedside rounding extended the CoP,informing project development. Key Performance Indicators were integrated into a live dashboard and reviewed monthly(Fig2)
Conclusion
REQI is a CoP fostering growth with shared learning and collaboration. As the healthcare landscape evolves,CoP principles remain essential in ensuring sustainable and patient-centered advancements in nephrology.REQI stands as a model for how CoP can transform healthcare delivery and outcomes
