Description

Satellite Healthcare
Established in 1974, Satellite Healthcare is a non-profit dialysis provider delivering dialysis to more than 8000 patients across 83 centers in six states, including 23 dedicated home dialysis training centers. Satellite Healthcare has led the industry with the highest penetration of home dialysis in the US and superior quality outcomes.

Applied Pragmatic Clinical Research
Satellite Healthcare’s Applied Pragmatic Clinical Research (APCR) program focuses on research that can rapidly be adopted and implemented across the nephrology community. Satellite Healthcare’s research initiatives seek to improve clinical outcomes and patient experience with a focus on:
-Individualizing dialysis care through home therapies and alternative modality options
-Advancing quality care, both during dialysis and transitions of care, through care delivery process improvement

The research will be executed through three distinct pathways: in-house research, contract research aligned with the overarching APCR goals and collaborative research partnerships with like-minded organizations to create a future network focused on identifying innovative and leading practices to change the ESRD/CKD care model.
Specific examples of current applied pragmatic clinical research are:
-Optimal Transitions™
-Dialysis Recovery Time
-Laughter Therapy for center HD patients-
-Patient to Patient Peer Mentoring
-Exercise programs for PD and HD patients
-Interventions for cardiac health and psychosocial well-being

Ongoing Clinical Trials
Satellite Healthcare collaborates in clinical trials aligned with Satellite’s APCR program.

Conclusion
Satellite Healthcare is committed to live its mission through the advancement of its APCR program, focused on finding solutions to promote high quality individualized care, home dialysis and alternative options. Changes in care delivery to improve patient outcomes will be examined in several venues of in-house and partnership research models, with the goal of translation into the future standard of care.
