Description

Humanitarian Kidney Response Program
Overview:

The American Society of Nephrology’s (ASN) Humanitarian Kidney Support Program is a coalition of partners dedicated to support people with kidney diseases and kidney health professionals in:
1. Natural and man-made disaster preparedness and response
2. Identification of current and emerging threats
3. Effects of climate change

Mission Statement:
To set the direction for ASN’s efforts to provide humanitarian support for the kidney community in areas affected by disasters, biologic threats, and the impact of climate change through collaboration, education, and advocacy

Description:
Emergency preparedness is essential for dialysis facilities and kidney patients including transplant recipients. This module has been prepared to help guide dialysis staff and patients in preparing for, and responding to, both natural and human-generated disasters. It contains group specific guidance for dialysis medical directors, clinical and operational staff, and patients.
