Designing Clinical Trials to More Rapidly Bring Innovations to Clinical Care
October 25, 2026 | 09:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Location: Room 501, Convention Center
Session Description
Opportunities to evaluate interventions for kidney diseases are increasing as new treatments are identified and the capacity to more efficiently generate rigorous clinical trial evidence is growing. This session reviews newer approaches to conducting clinical trials in nephrology. Experts use examples from recently completed or ongoing trials to illustrate the potential of these approaches.
Learning Objective(s)
- Explain how platform trials can be used to more rapidly identify effective interventions
- Describe how pragmatic trials can leverage clinical care infrastructures and data sources to generate effectiveness data
- Outline the types of hybrid effectiveness-implementation trials and their role in reducing the gap between evidence generation and the adoption of effective interventions into clinical care
- Discuss how partnering with a variety of stakeholders can help overcome barriers to conducting efficient trials
Learning Pathway(s)
- Dialysis
- CKD Non-Dialysis
