Session Description

This session addresses the management of medical conditions common among patients receiving dialysis and considerations for applying, in the setting of kidney failure, treatments or approaches known to be effective in the general population. Experts focus on new treatments and review evidence for or against their use in dialysis-dependent kidney failure.

  • Describe new approaches to anticoagulation and arrhythmia prevention/treatment in the setting of maintenance dialysis
  • Summarize current knowledge about blood pressure measurement and targets in the setting of maintenance dialysis
  • Discuss the implications of kidney failure for the approach to routine cancer screening
  • Assess diabetes management (medications and glucose monitoring) in the setting of maintenance dialysis
