Translational Session
From Detection to Intervention: Innovations and Obstacles in Antibody-Mediated Kidney Diseases
October 24, 2026 | 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM
Location: Four Seasons Ballroom 4, Convention Center
Session Description
The landmark discovery of autoantibodies in minimal change disease (MCD) and FSGS has advanced understanding of the underlying pathophysiology of these diseases. Translating these discoveries into clinical practice requires addressing key issues in measurement, diagnostic application, and therapeutic decision-making. This session reviews these challenges and what could be learned from membranous nephropathy as an example.
Learning Objective(s)
- Describe the challenges in measuring autoantibodies in MCD, FSGS, and membranous nephropathy
- Explain what evidence is required for antibodies to be used in therapeutic decision-making
- Discuss lessons learned from membranous nephropathy that could be applied to novel antibody-mediated diseases
Learning Pathway(s)
- Glomerular Diseases
- Pediatric Nephrology
