Expanded Hemodialysis with Medium Cutoff Membranes: Rationale, Evidence, and Implementation Considerations

Session Description
Expanded hemodialysis, which uses medium cutoff dialyzer membranes, removes middle- and large-molecular-weight solutes more effectively than conventional high-flux hemodialysis. Some of these solutes are thought to contribute to inflammation, immune dysregulation, and cardiovascular disease. In this symposium, speakers discuss the rationale and clinical evidence for expanded hemodialysis and practical considerations for implementing it in maintenance hemodialysis.
Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis to fully paid Annual Meeting participants. Doors open approximately 15 minutes prior to each symposium. When a room reaches capacity, ASN will shut down access to the room. No other participants will be allowed to enter the room, regardless of the number of participants who exit the room during the activity.
