ASN Council Nominations Deadline: Friday, May 4, at 4:00 pm EDT

The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) seeks nominations for the annual election of the ASN Council, the society's governing board. Qualified candidates should have the vision, experience, and expertise to guide the society in leading a world without kidney diseases.

With the change to the society's bylaws in 2016, this year's election is for both an At-Large Councilor and an Executive Councilor.

The At-Large Councilor will serve a single four-year term. After serving as At-Large Councilor, this individual is eligible to run again as an Executive Councilor.

The Executive Councilor will serve a single four-year term. In the first year of their term, the Executive Councilor will hold the office of Secretary; in the second year of the term, the Executive Councilor will hold the office of President-Elect; in the third year of the term, the Executive Councilor will hold the office of President; and in the fourth year of their term, the Executive Councilor will hold the office of Past President. Any member who serves as Executive Councilor is not eligible to run again as an At-Large Councilor.

Nomination submissions should consist of 1) the curriculum vitae of the nominated ASN member and 2) a brief nomination letter (one to three paragraphs). ASN is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion at all levels of the society, including councilors. To learn more about this commitment, please visit the ASN Diversity and Inclusion Committee's website.

ASN must receive nominations for the 2020 ASN Council election by Friday, May 8, at 4:00 p.m. EDT. ASN members should email nominations to Molly Harrison, ASN Operations Coordinator, at mharrison@asn-online.org.

ASN will send a ballot, including brief biographical data, to all active and corresponding members approximately three months prior to ASN Kidney Week 2020. The meeting is scheduled to take place Tuesday, October 20, to Sunday, October 25, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.

The members of the 2020 ASN Nominating Committee are:

  • Michel Chonchol, MD, FASN
  • Tamara Isakova, MD
  • Mathias Kretzler, MD
  • Mark E. Rosenberg, MD, FASN, Chair
  • Karin A. True, MD, FASN
  • Suzanne Watnick, MD, FASN

Thank you for your continued support and participation.
