The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) seeks nominations for the annual election of the ASN Council, the society's governing board. Qualified candidates should have the vision, experience, and expertise to guide the society towards its goal of creating a world without kidney diseases. ASN must receive nominations for the 2023 ASN Council election by Friday, April 21.

On March 29th, 50 advocates representing the American Society of Nephrology and American Association of Kidney Patients will be on Capitol Hill. Advocates will showcase to Congress why increased funding to accelerate kidney health care innovation at KidneyX, and increased funding for the Veterans Health Administration National Kidney Program and the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program, are essential for supporting the health of American service members and catalyzing the development of new therapies for the 37 million Americans living with kidney diseases.

ASN commends an initiative to modernize the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN), which was recently announced by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The initiative includes the release of new organ donor and transplant data; prioritization of modernization of the OPTN IT system; and a call for Congress to make specific reforms in the National Organ Transplant Act.
