Description
Data standards and health information technology (health IT) resources have potential to improve data quality, facilitate use of “big data” for research, enable real-world, pragmatic research leveraging the electronic health record (EHR), and increase research efficiency by enabling opportunities for comparison and combination of data from multiple studies and with EHRs. The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have numerous resources, initiatives and funding opportunities of interest to the nephrology research community, that may facilitate standards-based, health IT-enabled research. This poster will describe these resources, and provide the nephrology research community with guidance on how to effectively leverage, access and participate in these activities.
